I'd like to start out by saying, that Hawaii ROCKS! It is seriously my heaven. We did not want to leave. REALLY. I'm thinking about selling all my worldly belongings and becoming a beach bum. On that note, here's a picture from Ke'e Beach. Hopefully you can see the rainbow on the right.
In case you were wondering, Jack's favorite activity at the beach was getting water in his bucket and walking/running back up the beach and dumping whatever water was left on our feet. I mean look how excited he is...
A successful water pouring on Grandpa Jack's feet.
Jack's face says, "did you see what I did just did? wasn't that awesome!?"
And coming back with more.
Then running back to the water to get yet ANOTHER bucket full of water and sand.
Almost there...
This is a very serious job, water dumping, in case you were wondering.
Jack also loved playing in the sand with his beach toys. Mostly he liked scooping up a whole bunch of sand in the shovel and then throwing and spreading it as far as he could.
More bucket pictures from a different day...still as excited as the first time. (And just to the right of Jack's head is Ryan snorkeling).

That's Bali Hai, on the fair right. This was at Tunnels beach, one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. The reef is so big, that you can even see it from space.
It just so happens that the one day we went to Tunnels, they were filming a feature film, Soul Surfer. It's about a girl named Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a shark attack while surfing close to here. Apparently there are a whole bunch of famous people in it too, but we only saw AnnaSophia Robb who is playing Bethany. Dennis Quaid is playing her dad, Helen Hunt is playing her mom, and Carrie Underwood is playing the church youth counselor. The movie is supposed to come out the end of this year or beginning of next year. In the picture below you can see some of the film crew up in the trees behind Jack.
If you can blow the picture below up, you can see more of the people with the movie out in a zodiac boat, and some of the actors out on the reef holding surf boards. We thought these dogs that Jack is petting were with the movie people because they kept running out on the reef when the actors would paddle in, or when a boat or the helicopter that was there filming got close. We found out when we were leaving that they weren't, but they were super nice and Jack wouldn't leave them alone. It was pretty cool to be there while all that action was going on, and the helicopter would get really close to the water...sadly all those pictures that I took of it were on my phone which went swimming in the ocean later in our vacation and didn't survive.
And now, the only picture with me in it...besides one that Heather took that I don't have yet (please try not notice the lack of makeup, and awesome beach hair). Anyway, we are at the Kileaua Lighthouse. It was pretty cool.
This one is at the beach that we went to most of the time. It's on Hanalei Bay below the St. Regis, and it was gorgeous. We always sat in the same spot near this tree, the water was warm, the snorkeling was good, and the water was calm which was perfect for Jack. That's Jack down by the water and sandcastle, and Debby and Ryan sitting on the towel.
I wish I could pitch a tent under the tree above and wake up every morning to this view...
Seriously, it doesn't get any better than this.Oh by the way, it snowed all day today here in Utah.
And if you want to see more pictures they are on my facebook.

Wow that does look like heaven. Jack is getting so big... he is adorable. I love all the great Hawaii shots. I want to go.
Happy Late Birthday! I bet you love your new lens. I have the 1.8 as well and I absolutely love it. What kind of camera do you have and what other lenses do you use? I want a telephoto one but I don't know which one to get.
Oh and that cabin you stayed in looks almost exact to my parents cabin in Zion. At first I thought it was it... but the furniture is different. Looks like a great Christmas! Sorry its been a while since I've looked at your blog.
Those pictures are simply breath taking! It makes me want to run to costco right now and buy a fancy camera. Of course, I would have no idea how to use it and it would stay on "auto" mode. But you've captured Jack so well--his wife will TREASURE these.
