Even though the POD started out as a good idea, it stopped being one when we ended up not moving. It cost $250 a month for an 8x16 foot storage unit that we had to drive an hour to get to, and schedule the time before hand...pretty inconvenient if you ask me. In the beginning it was an awesome idea: we only had to pack and unpack our stuff once, we didn't have to drive a huge moving truck around town, and it was pretty affordable. But as soon as we decided not to get that house, the POD bills started racking up.
Finally, this weekend, we moved all our stuff into a regular storage unit right down the street, its bigger, and $150 cheaper than the POD. I have never been so excited in my life to move a house full of furniture. The best part about this whole move, besides the fact that I thing I might have torn my right peck muscle lifting our 4X8 foot armoir, is that we finally have a real bed again! Yesterday we brought our bed frame and box springs back to our apartment and set it up, and for some reason it felt so much better to go to sleep on a mattress that is on top of box springs and a bed frame than one that is on the floor.
(Oh, and I also got all my photo albums out of storage too!)

Congratulations! We've been both pod people and storage unit people, but now we are house people again. We bought a house in AZ to store our stuff in. Don't have time to go visit it even, but it's there, all together, just waiting for us to visit it. Unfortunately it's a lot more expensive than either the pod or the storage unit and I bet our "stuff" is lonely!
YEAH!! Now you can go visit your stuff and it wont feel so neglected. Say hi to your couch for me. I love it. ;)
besides all my stuff, I miss my own house too...real bad. but it does make feel a smidgen better to at least have visiting rights to my furniture again.
