Wyoming

This last weekend I got to go with Ryan to work in Rock Springs, WY. One of his coworkers went too, and he brought his wife and two kids along as well...THANK GOODNESS!!! Let me tell you, Rock Springs would have been not so fun without some people to hang out with. There is seriously nothing to do there, and by nothing to do I mean we sat in the hotel room the whole first day we were there while Ryan and Anthony were out working. On top of that the hotel we stayed in left something to be desired. They have a central heat in the hotel that just runs and the guests don't have control over at all, the windows don't open, and there is no air conditioning. It was in the 80's while we were there and the hotel people didn't turn off that central heat until like 9 pm. The only air that was allowed in your room was from a small, teeny tiney window on top of the door that was more like three glass slates that opened. The first night wasn't so bad since we had the glass slates, however the second night was a whole different story. We had to move rooms and ended up in a basement room with low ceilings, and no glass slates over the door. I felt like I was suffocating all night long. I usually sleep in multiple layers of clothing...I know you all think I am weird now...G-top, supportive tank top, and shirt...anyway, I was sweating to death only a few hours into the night. Every time I woke up Ryan was sound asleep. He even slept through my sounds of discontent and the noisey neighbors who were obviously drunk. I could barely sleep it was so stuffy and hot. Lets just say that Ryan was pleasantly surprised when he woke up in the morning to find I had lost one of my layers during the night. (And Ryan said he was freezing all night...he must have been dreaming that he was in Siberia or something...cause it was like the Mojave in that room.)

Since we did nothing the first day we decided to be a little more adventureous on Saturday. We saw a sign for Flaming Gorge a few exits back on the highway when we drove in on Friday so we decided to go find it. It took us an hour and half to get there, but it was well worth the drive. Even though I was expecting deep rock chasms, jutting boulders, and something to be on fire...all I got was a dam, and a lake...it was nice to play in the water and sit in the sun...and it was still really pretty. We thought we had found something pretty in Wyoming, but Flaming Gorge is in Utah (I know there are pretty things in Wyoming, but not in Rock Springs). After all was said and done I had a lot of fun with my new friend and her kids.

I hear you on the sleep thing!!! Nothing is worse than being hot and uncomfortable and no one sharing in your discomfort!!

The "flaming" rocks were pretty- even if they weren't on fire! (But you are correct in that it's a bit misleading! :)

Sorry about the shady hotel but the Lake looks gorgeous! Maybe next time you should opt to ride along for Cheynne or something bigger!
