Turtles in a half shell...Turtle power!

This weekend, Ryan and I were both really sick. We had all these glorious plans of what we would do with an extra day off, and then ryan woke up sick on Sunday, and I was still sick on Sunday, and today. Anyway, all we did all day Sunday was watch made for TV movies and other insegrevious shows. So, today when we woke up and were both still sick, we resolved to do something different than just watch TV. Our great idea was to go to Hollywood Video and rent a Wii game. We also wanted to get a game that had two players and that hopefully we both liked. It turns out that most of the games that were there to rent were 1 player games and we couldn't really agree on one game. We just decided to let Ryan pick, because usually he lets me pick when we do things like this. The game he chose was the new TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it was the only fighting game that they really had, and those are the games he likes. Now you can see why we can't ever agree on which games to pick). This is what transpired on the way up to the check out desk:

Ryan (walking holding his keys and wallet and the game): here ya go, you can hold the game, I'll pay for it.

Erin (handing him back the game, as he shirks away): thats okay you can keep holding it since you are going to pay for it.

Ryan: But my hands are full

Erin (sarcastically): What, with your keys and wallet? You can still totally hold the game, there's plenty of room. Are you embarrassed to hold the game you picked out?

Ryan: No...pffft, why would I be embarrassed?

Erin: You ARE embarrassed of the game...you just hold it, this is silly, you picked it out, why are you embarrassed of the game YOU picked out?

Ryan: If you make me hold it, I will do something embarrassing to you when we get up there to pay for it.

Erin: Fine I'll hold it, but I'm going to do something embarrassing to YOU when we get up there.

Ryan: Fine, fine I'll hold it....

Erin: No, don't worry about it. I got it

We get up to the front, and the guy starts ringing us up, we pay part of the late fees that we always seems to accrue and wile there is some dead air...just when Ryan thinks I may have forgot my promise to embarrass him...

Erin (to the cheker guy): He (refering to Ryan) has all the figureens of the Turtles...

Checker Guy: (looks at us with his eyebrows raised, and has a smile on his face like he just discovered that someone is a bigger dork than he is)

Erin: Yeah, and he has them all displayed up on this shelf in our house, he is really proud of them.

Ryan: (nervous laughing and bright red)

Erin: I know honey...you probably didn't want me to tell anyone about that, but I just had too...sorry.

Checker Guy: umm...have a nice day...(with the same look on his face as he handed us our game)

We left and got in the car. On the way home...Ryan said he could not believe that I did that, that he wouldn't have really embarrassed me if HE held it. Then he said...

Ryan: You're not gonna put this on your blog are you?

Those words are like the kiss of death....sorry babe...I actually didn't even think of that until you mentioned it. LOVE YOU!

Mom, yea, I made all the turtle weapons for some girls on Halloween at BYU.. yea I was 21 but I still knew how to make them! And I ended up married to one of them! Life Lesson #204: Never forget how to woo the women with Turtle Powers!

Okay, that's funny Chris! Erin, I am impressed with your quick thinking. But I felt a bit sorry for Ryan. I'm sorry Ryan, but I had to laugh out loud picturing the whole scene.
