A Bald Something in San Clemente!

So, while I was in California I was driving around with Val. I think we were on our way back from having breakfast together, going back to her house. She was in the middle fo telling me a story when out of no where flies this bald eagle landing on a palm tree branch near by. As you can imagine I was very suprised by my sighting of our nations bird right there in my own home town! Never before had I seen this majestic bird in SC. I let out a gasp, interrupting Val's story. She asked me, "what?", probably thinking that we almost hit someone or something. Right when I was about to show her the bald eagle perched on the palm tree branch, the big black crow dropped the large white piece of paper trash that it was holding in its beak to reveal it's true colors....black, and only black. So what! everybody gets bald eagles and crows mixed up...big deal.

After the tears from laughter subsided, I tried to explain that the trash the crow was transporting totally made it look like an egale at a quick glance. Also, that I have actually seen bald eagles on many occasions in Utah and Oregon and I know that the two aves look nothing alike in real life.

I have a feeling I won't be living that down anytime soon.

Can't you see the resemblence?

Sure- trash bird, majestic bird...they're all the same :) I have NEVER seen a bald eagle! We pretty much just have hawks here.

I'm glad you were there to share it with Val- lucky!

Erin didn't quite represent the spectacle of excitement she let out when she saw the alleged "bald eagle". It was as if she alone had been the first EVER to see a bald eagle spotted in San Clemente, California. It was a STOP THE PRESS!!! sort of moment. I'm sure the crow had no idea that it will go down in history as the FIRST crow to be mistaken as the national bird. Love you Erin!
