Jen is Engaged!!!

In case you didn't know, Jennifer, Ryan's youngest sister, is engaged. She got engaged on Sunday October 22. So, this weekend I went up to Rexburg to help Jen and her parent's pick out a wedding dress and bride’s maids dresses, I took her engagement pictures, and we took care of anything else that we could whilst the parental units were there. I drove up Friday night after work, picked up Debbie and Jack at the Idaho Falls Airport, and then we hung out for a couple of hours before we crashed for the night. I think we all were expecting a long day Saturday as we would all be trying to find Jen a wedding dress and bride’s maid’s dresses in one day. For those of you who are married or were involved in someone else's wedding you know that this is not an easy task. We had to cram it all in to one day because Debbie and Jack were headed back to Oregon Sunday morning.

So, we arrived at the first dress store at 10am Saturday morning. As we walked in we were greeted by a friendly store employee, whom we will call Dolores since I never caught her name.(Just cause Dolores sounds like an old lady name, don't assume that she is old. Dolores is actually about my age, really cute, blonde, and petite. Just like your typical bridal store employee). Dolores asked Jen if she had been in the store before because she thought she looked familiar, but Jen said "no". Dolores said that maybe she just looked familiar from campus. Then Jen and I proceeded to go through the racks of wedding dresses, and she picked out about 8 dresses and went into the dressing room with Dolores and started putting dresses on. Debbie, Jack, and I all sat down next to the elevated bridal runway of carpets and lights, with a huge mirror from wall to wall. So, Jen tried on all the dresses coming out each time and walking up and down the runway trying to decide if this would be THE dress. When she got to the last dress she came out and said this is it! She wanted that one, it was decided. Debbie and I, being wise from experience in weddings and many years of shopping, tried to make sure that she didn't want to go to any other stores to see what they had. But Jen had already decided that this was the dress, it was final. So Debbie and I gave in a little reluctantly but also a little relieved that we wouldn't have to go to 42,000 other stores. Then on our way out Debbie saw another dress in the window that would be cute for the bride’s maid’s dresses. Jen really liked that dress too, and so did I so we talked to Dolores and she told us the low down on the dress and basically gave us the green light on the bride’s maids dress Jen wanted. By now the time is approximately 11:45 and Jack and Jen were at the register purchasing the dress and getting ready to leave. It took us less than two hours to find everything! Now, who do you know that was able to pick out their wedding dress and brides maids dresses in an hour and forty-five minutes? I know no one! No one who is that fast! It was amazing!

It turns out that she HAD been in the store before, only once before, and had already picked out both her dress and the brides maids dresses the day before she got engaged. She just didn’t want us to know that she came in before she was engaged. Sneaky, sneaky, scandalous Jen...you're good, real good.

Thanks for making your wedding shopping short and sweet!

After she picks the engagement picture that she likes I will post a picture of Jen and Nathan P. Mitton.

Two or three things:
One: hooray for Jennifer, Jen, or Jenny, whatever she is calling herself these days!! Mrs. Mitton...that's awesome. I bet that was fun for you to go up and be a part of all the pre-festivities.

Two: I picked out my dress in one hour (it was the first one I tried on in the only store I went in), and found the shirts for you ladies in 30 minutes. How bout them apples?

Three: I told someone about the "lit'rally" story the other day! It was my teacher at school, who (this is sweet) used to make tally sheets in class of stupid or odd things her teachers would say in lecture. She kept a tally the whole semester long. WE should have done that! Litrally!

Four: (I know I said three) G, you are not an old maid. Come see what REAL married life is like, and you won't feel so old! ;)

That's AMAZING! It didn't take me to long to find my dress but it was at least a couple of stores worth! What a girl that means you had time to go out to eat and shop for other stuff...I like it! Way to go Jen!
