Winter is definitely here

This is what it looked like when I came home from work today, all dark and snowy, and windy.
Then 10 minutes later the storm stopped for a minute, and it was gorgeous outside.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow we are getting hit hard with the first real winter snow storm of the season. By the looks of this storm I think we are in for a long, cold, snowy winter.

Last night, on my way home from work, I had some issues actually getting home. To get home to my house I have to drive up a very steep hill, and there are no ways around it. Most of the year its nice to live up on the hill. We get a gorgeous view, and nice breezes in the summer (plus it makes me feel like I am rich living on hill above everybody, even though I am just in a rich persons basement instead, renting. Did I mention that my mattress is on my floor, and we have a yellow kitchen?). However, in the winter, the streets turn to ice slicks, mounds of snow grow and grow on the side of the road, and for some reason snowplows discriminate against cul-de-sacs and smaller roads, which is where I live. In my opinion people who live in cul-de-sacs and on smaller streets need the snow plowed just as much as those who live on large streets, and busy highways. It might be safer for me to just sled all the way to work and hitch hike home than to risk driing my car down a 45 degree angle street on ice. Last night on my way home from work, I slid through a stop sign with my breaks giving me no help at all. Then as I turned the corner up the little hill in front of my house I almost slid into the neighbors yard. After barely making that turn I started to make my way up the hill which took me aproximately 42 minutes as I zig zagged back and forth inch by inch. As I am zig zagging out of control up my hill there are these little kids sledding down the middle of the street...can they not see that I obviously have no control of my car, and that at any minute my tires will regain a grip on the road and I might actually accelerate, do they think I am just burning rubber in the middle of the street for fun? REALLY! Finally a little girl who was outside shoveling her driveway came over and shoveled in front of my car so that I could make it the last 4 feet around the corner to my street that also was not plowed. I came to a gentle stop next to the curb, where I couldn't believe that I almost died 25 feet away from my house. I CAN'T WAIT FOR WINTER! ITS GONNA BE SWEET!

I am getting a little verclempt, and I have a tear in my eye! I LOVE WINTER! I guess since I don't get any of that here, it makes me miss it even more.

Glad you got home okay- yikes. We are supposed to have an ice storm on Wednesday, and I am not looking forward to crazy southern drivers in freezing weather, yikes!

The snow is BEAUTIFUL! Sorry we missed you while you were here. We didn't have any phone service at our house in Arizona so we were totally out of touch with everyone. Sounds like we missed some fun times. Your mom doesn't carve the bird fast enough I hear! We were having fun with the Warners and the Wisconsin Harline's. Fun times!

I don't know about this snow and ice stuff...
But then I was just walking from my car to TACO BELL tonight, when a woman came out of the drive thru and made a left turn into me !! The left side of MY Body! She stopped within inches of my thigh, I felt the pressure from her truck's front left corner. I thought that it was a joke at first... Icame over to her window which was tinted, she was shaken and appolgizing, I thought I was ok.. then fell apart in taco bell telling the tennis players,(Dad) what had just happened. There was devine intervention for sure.. So is that how it feels on snow and ice?
Maybe we should stay in CA.

send some of that snow my way!! i'm ready for it! even though i can't snowboard this winter, the 60 and 70 degree days in november here are getting a bit ridiculous. i'm ready for some winter!

...also, that means that the sonner winter starts, the sooner winter ends, and spring comes, and you know what SPRING brings...BABY!!! and that reminds me of a lame joke that cracks me up every time:

april showers bring may flowers, but what do may flowers bring?

PILGRIMS!

be careful out there missy, none of us wants your camera used to document any ambulance rides or trips to the ER. unless you happen to be in the ER visiting babs and samuel. then that's okay.

Vienna was asking today, "when's it gonna snow? I want it to snow so I can make a snowball and eat it". I had to break her little heart and remind her that in beautiful San Clemente it never ever snows. We did have ALOT of wind today though. Everyone was complaining that it was freezing. It was maybe..62. I'll come and visit you in the snow, Erin.
