Last Vacation of the Summer

We got back from Oregon last night...luckily. We had a really crazy plane ride coming back. Let's just say that I havenever feared for my life on a plane like I did last night. The whole flight was normal until we get over Salt Lake. The pilot gets over the speaker and says, we are going to have to circle over Salt Lake for a while because of some bad weather, and wait till the storm passes by. Well we circled for 25 minutes, and then pilot got on the speaker again. He said we have been diverted to Boise because we still can't land and we are short on fuel. So now we are on our way to Boise to refuel and then go back to Salt Lake again. 20 minutes later we begin our descent. We started to experience some turbulents...the kind that are pretty normal when you fly...just bumpy. Also, we had like 50 kids on our flight and they were getting restless at this point...so that was making the ride extra special. The pilot gets back on the speaker and says very urgently, "please make sure your seat belt is on, and if you have a child that they are secure in their seat or on your lap". He started to say it again when all of the sudden we dropped, I am not sure how much...but we dropped. Then it got super bumpy again. I was just thinking, "wow that was crazy, but there's no way that would happen again", when it did. We dropped again. People we screaming, and swearing, and gripping there arm rests. The severe bumpyness continued, and I think we probably dropped another 3 times. When we were closer to the ground it calmed down finally...but I had images of bad things happeneing to us in that plane running through my head. I mean when you think about it, a huge hunk of metal is not supposed to be flying throught the air like that. We refueled, stayed on the ground for like 40 minutes and then left for Salt Lake. taking off and landing this time around was nothing compared to what we went through landing in Boise. When we finally landed in Salt Lake, one of the flight attendants got on and said, "Thank you for being patient with us on being a little behind....but it's better than being a big behind".

But lets talk about the trip, good times. The weather was so gorgeous the whole time we were there. Warm, sunny, no wind. In fact Ryan and I went to Freddy's to buy kites so we could go utilize the wind a little. Well, we tried to fly them twice the first couple of days we were there, and we couldn't becuaset here was no wind. And for those of you who know Florence, you know this is weird. We finally got fly kites the last day were there. We also went for hike up to Sweet Creek Falls. I have been to Sweet Creek so many times, I can't even count them, but I have never gone all the way up to the Falls before, so it was fun. I caught my first fish there ( I never catch fish with Ryan when I go with him, but I have caught them before when I was little).

Anyway, it was really fun to hang out the family and be in Oregon. Oregon in the summer is one of my favorite places to be.
I thought this was such a cute picture. It's on our way up to Sweet Creek Falls.
Here's the Falls... aren't they glorious?
Here is the little little fish that I caught...but size isn't important is it?
Debby fished too. She's got fishing skills, casting skills, reeling skills...
Ryan caught a ton of fish while we were at Sweet Creek, but he also caught this crawdad from way up on a over-hang. We looked down and saw all these crawdads in the creek and so he tried to catch one, and he did.
We also went and played miniature golf. it was pretty fun. I even got a hole in one, one time. I thought this picture was funny, cause you can see Ryan's ball rolling back down the hill after he hit it. I think this happened 3 times to him on this hole. It was pretty funny (I don't think he thought so though).
We went for a walk at North Jetty. There were tons of people there because it was so nice out.

Cindy was there too, and so was Nikki and Eric and their kids. Natalie was zonked out after church. She is almost a year old, but she the littlest thing you have ever seen...so cute!
That's Ryan flying one of our kites that we got...on it's way up. There were a ton of people at the Light House beach when we went there too.

Tyson was just having fun throwing the biggest rocks he pick up into the creek at the beach. He is almost 3 now, and talking up a storm. He also very polite, and says please and thank you all the time.

Wow - that plane ride sounds like a nightmare! I'm glad you made it back safe and sound. I also wanted to let you know that we're expecting a little girl in early Jan - I've been meaning to call and tell you, but let's face it, I'm a total slacker.

That fish you caught is what I call bait for the real fish.

So glad you werent big behind! That's freaky!! Florence has got to be one of the most beautiful places in the world when it's nice and sunny! Wish we could have seen you, but I know you were probably busy with fam.

Glad you had fun. That's ironic that you had such a yucky flight after we had JUST been talking about how we don't love to fly... ugh :( I'm glad I wasn't on it.. I would have been one of the ones dealing with crying kids. Those people - I feel for BIG TIME. Your pictures are cute and I'm glad you had fun. :)

Oh.. and of course size doesn't matter.. it's how you... well, never mind. Let's keep it G-rated ;)
